Mark-Lupe-EduardoThis past weekend I held an event in Jefferson, Texas along with Craig Woolheater of Cryptomundo.
Because of the esteemed Loren Coleman, our little event made national news! CBS had been interviewing Loren for their CBS Sunday Morning show (our segment is set to air this Sunday, October 28, 2012). He invited them to Jefferson for our one of a kind conference and they came. Man did they.
With Serena Altschul, the producer Mary and two cameramen, they interviewed attendees and speakers. (They did not interview myself nor Craig). It was a thrill to have them there, but my biggest thrill was the news that Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project) and Mark Ordesky (The Lord of the Rings) were coming to give us a special sneak preview to their film, Exists. (I am a huge cinephile)
I met them at the door and they were the sweetest most unpretentious people you would ever meet from the Hollywood scene.
Mark and Eduardo spent the entire day at the event. They listened to all of the speakers and talked to all of the guests. They dined with us then gave their presentation.
Exists was filmed entirely in Texas and used a cast of 99.9 percent Texans, therefore, our event was the perfect venue for them to promote the film.
We sat back and watched the intense 90 second trailer for the film,(gave me goosebumps!) then they had a question and answer session.
Eduardo had always wanted to do a big feature film about Bigfoot ever since, understandably, seeing The Legend of Boggy Creek as a child.
Exists portrays a group of friends who venture into the remote Texas woods for a party weekend find themselves stalked by Bigfoot. Yawn, right? We’ve seen this movie before…but, with the backing of Hollywood producer Mark Ordesky, this film is going to be a blockbuster like we’ve never experienced before!
I’ll be keeping you updated on the progress and release dates of the film because I know you will WANT to see this when it hits the theaters! Not since The Legend of Boggy Creek has a Bigfoot film come along that is worthy of the big screen!
Mark was the highest bidder on the original artwork by Rebekah Sisk and he was thrilled to have it shipped home immediately the next day!
The event was more than exciting although the attendance was much lower than anticipated. I lost money, but gained knowledge, gained friends and have the reputation of putting on the best conference ever! The speakers, the food, the movies, the train ride, the trip to Fouke, Arkansas to meet Smokey Crabtree left all of the attendees worn out, but not wanting to leave!
I am grateful to all those who attended and I am sure they will spread the word that our event next year should not be missed.
(Mark, if you are reading this, I want to work for you on this project to promote Exists all over the USA)
